CHURCH NEWS:

At Mass last weekend, the anniversaries of Jimmy Stapleton & John Lyons were remembered. A thought for the week - ' Be a hand that reaches out. Be a smile for those who have no reason to smile. Be a light for those who live in darkness.'


IRISH DANCING:

Delighted to welcome back the Fleming/Ball Dance Academy who will be resuming Irish Dance Classes on Tuesday 5th Sept in the Community Centre, 6pm - 7pm. For more info contact Linda on 086-1071978.


BOOTCAMP:

Returning by popular demand, Cathal is trying out the new class time of 8am on Saturday mornings, first class resumed on 2nd Sept. Small circuit based class, suitable for all fitness levels, pay as you go or by the term.

GRANAGH FOLK CHOIR:

Coming up this month, our choir director Roisin would like to set up a Folk Choir with guitar accompaniment. She hopes that the choir can sing once a month at mass as well as special occasions, with rehearsals once a month. It will be open to all and especially students from secondary school upwards. Please spread the word and encourage both males & females to join up. The more the merrier.


TRACTOR RUN:

Sunday 10th Sept; The Grey Bridge Cross Country Run is back on! Registration starts 10am at Liston’s Family Farm, Ballyculleen, Croom. Run Starts 11.30am sharp, finishing at Rockbarton Garden Centre.


CANNONBALL:

Sat 16th Sept; 6pm approx. GOOD news for supercar fanatics, as the newly announced route for Cannonball Run includes an overnight stop in Limerick City. Pery Square will play host to the 2023 Cannonball run stopover for the Limerick leg of the countrywide spectacle. Drivers of more than 190 supercars will arrive from 6pm, having started from Dublin and driven via Mayo and Galway. From 10.30am on the following day, they will depart to Fermoy and Fota Island in Cork before reaching the finish line in Kilkenny.


QUACK QUACK:

Sun 17th Sept; 400 ducks come out of hibernation for the Annual Duck Race, in aid of Ballingarry Community Park & Playground. The Corporate Ducks will race for the Robbie Curtis Memorial Trophy and can be sponsored for twenty five euro each. (Contact Tommy (hotbox) McKiernan ) 087-6728355. Family ducks cost five euro and will race for the Trainor Perpetual Trophy. There will also be prize money for the winners of the family Duck Race. LIMK MOTOR CLUB:

Sat 30th Sept & Sun 1st Oct; Ballingarry. Rounds 11 & 12 of the Alekto Hillclimb and Sprint Championship, which was postponed in July due to adverse weather conditions.

Ballyhoura Development and Ballyhoura Fáilte have designed a FREE mini conference to support individuals and enterprises in our communities, in order to develop the tourism offering of our region and boost the economic benefit it can bring to communities. The conference takes place on Thursday September 21st, 9.30am – 4.30pm in Kilbehenny Community Centre, P87 C448. This event is also open to food & service businesses interested in supplying tourism businesses, attractions and destinations. Attendance is FREE but registration is required on the Ballyhoura Development website.
