Rest in Peace, Mary:

CHURCH NOTES:

Last Sunday, we remembered the month's mind of Joe Noonan. I measc na naofa go mbeidh sé I gcónaí.

CHOMHBHRÓN:

Our heartfelt sympathies to the Boyce family, Kilmore on the passing of Mary, on Feb 5th in the excellent care of all at Cork University Hospital. Beloved mother of the late Patricia.

Lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Pat Joe, daughter Maria, son-in-law John Cooke, adoredgrandchildren Kieran and Patricia, sister Kathleen McNamara, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, relatives, kind neighbours and her friends.

She was reposed at Daffy’s Funeral Home, with removal to St. Joseph’s Church, Granagh. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, after which Mary was laid to rest in Granagh Cemetery.

Maria spoke eloquently of her mother, at the Mass. She worked with the HSE for forty years where she was most helpful and competent. She had a great capacity for people and was a wonderful conversationalist. She was a member of the ICA & the National School Board of Management for many years. She shared her love of flowers, by decorating the Altar for Sunday Masses. She became a member of the Bridge club where she gained a new circle of friends. As a supporter of all things parish, Pat Joe and Mary attended every event that was held. When Granagh Players performed their first play in 2008, Mary arrived to help with the teas and introduced us to her fabulous apple tart. Once it appeared on the table no one could resist the temptation to taste it. It went to the stage that it had to be hidden until the interval, so that the cast might get a taste.!!! When Mary could no longer attend, she still baked and Pat Joe hand-delivered the tart.! Everyone was delighted to see him arriving & knew they could look forward to a treat at the half-time break. A beautiful person and a stylish lady, she will be sadly missed by all who knew & loved her. Go dtuga Dia leaba í measc na nAingeal aicí.

DEVELOPMENT ASSOC:

Thanks to the producer, cast, band & backstage crew of Granagh Players for another wonderful production - 'Send 'Em Home Sweatin'. With twenty one in the cast, five in the band plus their equipment, the stage area was used to full capacity. The production attracted great crowds and apologies to anyone who was turned away. Thanks to the audiences who attended and indeed to the many people who came more than once.!! Once again our sponsors couldn't have been more generous, you would not get the quality & quantity of the nightly raffle prizes anywhere else.! Thanks to the gang of volunteers both inside and outside, who kept everything ticking over and running smoothly. Thanks to the new cast members, Sinead Griffin, Kayleigh Twomey and Ian Sheehy for joining in this year, it's great to have youth & talent added to the group. Hard to believe this is the sixteenth year, credit to everyone who has been involved in promoting live drama and creating a fantastic community event.
