HARVEST MOON:

The September Moon nearest the Equinox (which falls on Sunday, September 22nd, for 2024) is also known as the Harvest Moon.

CHURCH MATTERS:

Last Sunday, Anniversary Mass was celebrated for Jim Kelly, Kilmore. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam dilís.

Thought for the Week: ' The only thing that stands between us and extinction is six inches of soil and the fact that it rains. '

3rd Sunday, celebrating the 'Season of Creation':- Did you know that every minute, we lose the equivalent of thirty football pitches of fertile soil... Healthy soil is a living ecosystem that sustains the health of plants, animals and humans. It is the infrastructure that is needed to keep a host of bacteria, fungi, viruses and microscopic creatures, living in balance. The spread of intensive agriculture, deforestation and industrial activity have accelerated the loss of soils in almost every country in the world. When we don't look after soil, it loses its ability to support plant growth, becomes contaminated & is vulnerable to being washed away.

Thus ensuring the continuation of the present very high standard of care, comfort, and well being of the patients there.

FRAUDSMART:

There has been a huge increase in scam text messages claiming to be from Gov.ie or even impersonating other state agencies or legitimate businesses. You may receive a text message stating that you are entitled to certain benefits or tax credit repayment. The message will ask you to click on a link to input your bank details in order to receive the benefit. A fraudster then follows up with a phone call impersonating a bank representative informing you that you have just been scammed and that your bank now needs to take possession of your bank card. A courier then calls to your house to collect your bank card.!!!!

Be very Suspicious. Stop & Think: Do not reply to unsolicited text messages or provide personal information or financial information. Do not click on links in text messages.

Never give away security details such as your PIN or online password to anyone.

Never hand over your bank card to anyone. Block the sender of a suspicious email or text message and delete the message.

If you are unsure of the legitimacy of any text message, ignore it and contact the company directly using the contact details provided on their official website.

Please note that your bank will never send a courier to collect your card.

DID YOU KNOW:

Without the Oceans, our planet would be as inhospitable as Mars: no meadows, no insects, no animals, no forests, no flowers, no birds & no humans....

97.5% of water on earth is salt water. 2.5% is fresh water & this is what sustains life on earth.

Of this fresh water, 70% is used in agriculture, 22% in industry & 8% for domestic use.

In 1980, five hundred Irish rivers were in 'pristine' condition - today that number has fallen to twenty.

A dripping tap leaking ten drops of water every minute, adds up to 90litres or more over a month.
