RESULTS:
On Wednesday 15th, thousands of Leaving Cert results will be collected all over the country. We congratulate our local students on having completed the leaving cert and we wish them the very best of luck on the next stage of their education.
CHURCH NEWS:
Feast of the Assumption,15th Aug: Mass will be held in Ballingarry, Tuesday 14th at 7.00pm and in Granagh,Wednesday 15th, at 7.00pm.
Parish Clerks: - Many may have missed out on the Parish Clerks Collection last weekend. If you did, we ask you to please return your envelope for them next weekend. We are so privileged with the quality and commitment of our Parish Clerks who carry a huge responsibility. They provide an essential service to us all and do so with huge dedication. Please ensure that you show your appreciation.
Holy Communion 2019: Parents wishing to enroll their child for First Holy Communion are reminded that the closing date for return of the Enrollment Forms is this coming weekend, August 19th. You may drop your completed form through letter box at Fr. Lane’s house, or drop it in at next weekend’s mass or pop it in the post; whichever is most convenient. If any eligible parent hasn’t received their Enrollment Invitation in the post, please contact Fr. Lane.

A number of our parishioners have been in hospital and gone through operations, so we send them our very best wishes for a full recovery.
LUNG CANCER STUDY:
Researchers at Dublin City University are conducting a study with people living with, or caring for someone with lung cancer. They want to learn what physical and emotional needs people with lung cancer and their carers have, so that they can understand what services are needed to best address them. They need people who have been diagnosed with lung cancer or have cared for someone with lung cancer, to tell them about their experiences, attitudes and beliefs surrounding their support needs. This will involve a one-to-one interview, lasting about an hour. HERITAGE EVENTS:
National Heritage Week 2018 is coming fast - Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th August !! A whole host of free events have been organised at Desmond Hall Castle in Newcastle West, with free admission and free guided tours of the castle. Saturday the 18th;- 4pm, a free talk on the life and music of Seán Ó Riada followed by a performance of traditional tunes related to Ó Riada's life and legacy to be played on the concertina by Pádraig Mac Aodhgáin. Thursday the 23rd of August at 8pm, historian and author Dr. Pádraig Óg Ó Ruairc will will give a talk entitled "The women who died for Ireland" detailing the lives and deaths of the eight members of Cumann na mBan who were killed fighting for Irish freedom in the years 1918 to 1923. Sunday 26th August at 8pm, three of Ireland's leading historians - television presenter Donal Fallon, radio broadcaster John Dorney and author Tom Toomey - will each discuss the Conscription Crisis, the 1918 General Election and the return of tens of thousands of Irish ex-soldiers from the First World War. The event will conclude with a panel discussion and questions from the audience. Doors open at 7.30pm and space is limited so those interested in attending are advised to come early. UP-COMING CLASSES:
Sign language classes are starting at Music School, Charleville. The course is ten weeks long and culminates in a sign language certificate. Classes are one and a half hours long from 7.30 to 9.00 on Thursday evenings starting Thursday 6th September. The ten week course is €150 per person with at 10% reduction for two from the one immediate family.
Places are limited due to the popularity so book quickly if you are interested. Also Adult beginner Guitar Classes will commence on 3rd Sept, 8pm to 8.45pm.

Friday 17th Aug, 8.30pm. In aid of the Irish Heart Foundation, The Rock Bar will present ' Up for the Match '. Hurling stories and analysis, with MC Liam Aherne and guests Donal O'Grady, Liam O'Donoghue, Sean Treacy etc, and a raffle for a jersey signed by the current team.

95 STOP TOUR:
After last years' huge success which raised over E84,000 for Limerick kids, it's will take place again from 17th - 21st September. Thefour beneficiaries this year are the Children’s Ark Unit at the University Hospital Limerick including the Neo-Natal Unit at the Maternity Hospital, CARI Limerick and the new addition of Cliona's Foundation. Limerick businesses and communities will be holding fundraisers between now and the 21st of September, so do what you can to support them, they all provide vital services to our communities..
Cliona's Foundation - is the only charity in Ireland that provides direct financial assistance to help families of children with life-limiting or chronic complex care needs to help with the non-medical costs related to caring for their child. These costs can be as much as €145 a day for parents.!!
CARI Limerick provide a professional, child centered therapy and
counselling service to children, families and groups who have been affected by the sexual abuse of children.
Children’s Ark and Neonatal Unit is the only high dependency paediatric unity outside of Dublin and they
have been able to purchase valuable critical care equipment, to provide appropriate care to children in the Mid-West.
BUTTERFLY COLLECTION:
The annual collection for the Butterfly Club will take place on the weekend of the 25th and 26th August. The Butterfly Club is a social club for children with Special Needs aged 3 years and up from all areas of Limerick. It is a totally voluntary run club, which provides leisure activities in a safe, fun filled environment for children and young adults with special needs, while providing respite for parents/guardians. They run a Saturday club, which is now divided into 5 groups. Each group of children attend club once a month, four of the groups which includes a Youth club are based in Croí na nÓg, Rathkeale and one other club is based in Abbeyfeale. Due to the growing needs of the number of children wishing to attend the club, they are now catering for sixty three children. DATES FOR THE DIARY:
