Granagh-Ballingarry were successful in two events in the West Limerick Scór na nOg finals at Ardagh Community Centre on Sunday. Mark O'Shea, who recited ‘The Greatest Game of them All’, won first place for recitation. The drama/novelty act group of Therese Noonan, Aislinn Herlihy, Caoimhe O'Flynn, Olivia Bennett, Gráinne Lynch and Nessa Houlihan, who performed ‘Emigration and an American wake’ very well, also represent their club and the West division at the County Scór na nOg finals on Friday 27th November in the Millennium Centre, Caherconlish, at 7pm. thank you to Kathy Noonan and Maura Friel Lynch for their help and cooperation in getting the boys and girls together. Your support would be welcome on Friday 27th November to cheer on the boys and girls in their bid to bring the first ever County Scór medals to their parish and club.

St Kieran's after going under to St. Senan's in the opening round got their West B Football Championship campaign back on track with a comfortable win over gallant Granagh-Ballingarry in difficult wet and windy conditions at Mick Neville Park Rathkeale on Saturday night.
Mike Clancy had the pitch in top class condition for this game played in front of a small crowd with Davy Dillane of Mountcollins in charge. St Kieran's won the toss and chose to play with the aid of the wind in the first half, but it was Granagh-Ballingarry who were first off the mark with a second-minute point by Aaron Smith. Four minutes later after inaccurate shooting by both sides Pa O'Connor scored for St Kieran's after a good solo run for 0-1 each. A couple of wides were exchanged before St Kieran's upped their game with a smashing goal by Ray Noonan on 10 minutes, followed with points by Kevin Meade on 12 minutes and Pa O'Connor on 15 to leave it St Kieran's 1-3 Granagh-Ballingarry 0-1 at the end of the first quarter. Then Aaron Kelly ended 15 minutes without a Granagh-Ballingarry score when he pointed from a 20 metre placed ball on 16 minutes before points for St Kieran's by Seamus Mangan on 18 and 20 minutes and Liam Upton on 23 left it 1-6 to 0-2 in favour of the Saints. Then Aaron Smith won a point back for Granagh-Ballingarry on 25 minutes followed by one by Liam Upton on 30 to send St.k in for half-time leading 2-7 to 0-3.
Granagh-Ballingarry dominated the first five minutes after the interval with points by Aaron O'Kelly from a placed ball and Aaron Smith from play to close the gap to eight, 2-7 to 0-5 on 35 ins. The next five minutes were close and exciting with both sides missing chances before points by Seamus Mangan on 43 and 45 minutes extended St Kieran's advantage to ten, 2-9 to 0-5 at the end of the third quarter. Then Padraig Lynch won a point back for Granagh-Ballingarry before goals were exchanged by David Condron and Ray Noonan to leave it 3-9 to 1-6 to St Kieran's on 50 minutes. Granagh-Ballingarry put together a couple of scoring chances in the next four minutes before St Kieran's finished strongly with a well take point from Pa Liston on 55 minutes followed by 1-1 from sub Brian McCarthy to leave St Kieran's deserving 4-11 to 1-6 winners of their first two points in the West U21 B Football Championship. Granagh-Ballingarry now play St. Senan's in the final group game this Friday 20th November at 8pm in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale, where a win for St. Senan's would see them through to the final while St Kieran's would play Granagh-Ballingarry in the semi-final. a win for Granagh-Ballingarry will see all three teams finish level on 2 points and scoring diff will then determine which team qualifies for the final. St Kieran's scored all 4-10 from play; Granagh-Ballingarry scored 1-4 from play and 0-2 from frees.

Dromcollogher is the venue on Saturday, 21st November, for the mouth-watering clash of holders Feohanagh-Castlemahon and recently crowned West Senior champions Granagh-Ballingarry in the West Intermediate Hurling Championship final Ui a repeat of the Dunworth Cup final when the sides finished level Granagh-Ballingarry 2-19 Feohanagh-Castlemahon 4-16 on Sunday 23rd August in Ballingarry. Tremendous support is anticipated for both clubs in this the 21st final in this competition since Kilmeedy beat Croom 4-5 to 1-0 in the first one in 1928. Feohanagh-Castlemahon, who reached this year/s second tier county Intermediate Hurling Championship and promotion to premier for 2016, will be aiming for their fourth title and two in a row after wins in 1999, 200 and 2015. Granagh-Ballingarry, who have never won it yet, will be contesting only their second final; they lost in 2003 to county champions Tournafulla, when the team was Shane Mulqueen, Bobby Houlihan, Seamus Stapleton, Cormac McCarthy, Niall McCarthy, Michael Carroll, Aidan Mulqueen, Donal O'Grady, Paul Kennedy 0-1, Stephen Stapleton, David Clancy 0-6, Darren Clifford, Eoin Chawke, Bert Hanley, Micheál Clancy 0-2, subs used Eddie O'Brien 0-1, Kieran Mulqueen and Kevin O'Connor.

Granagh-Ballingarry have won 12 and drawn one of their 19 competitive games so far this year, winning the West Senior Hurling Championship and finishing second in Division 2 of the county League on 10 points (one behind Knockainey) and drawing with Feohanagh-Castlemahon in the Dunworth Cup final and were unlucky to lose out on a County Premier Intermediate Championship semi-final spot when going under toboth Knockainey and Blackrock with late scores to finish sixth in the group on 6 points.

The West Limerick G.A.A. Board will review a very successful year at their annual convention in the Devon Inn, Templeglantine,. On Wednesday 25th November, after 7.30pm Mass for deceased members, relatives and friends of the gaa.Jim Lynch of Granagh-Ballingarry will be confirmed as the new assistant secretary of the board and we wish him the best of luck in this position. Granagh-Ballingarry will be presented with their West Junior B Hurling League/Championship and Senior Hurling Championship medals and Granagh-Ballingarry/Rathkeale with their West Minor A Hurling Championship medals.
AGM
The annual general meeting of Granagh-Ballingarry G.A.A. club takes pace on Friday 11th December in the clubhouse in Ballingarry at 8pm. John Lynch in his secretary’s report states that it was a very successful year at both adult and Bord na nOg levels, winning six pieces of silver, the West Junior B Hurling League and Championship, the Aest Senior Hurling Championship, the West Minor A Hurling Championship (with Rathkeale)m the Ciounty Division 3 u15 Hurling and the county Division 3 U14 Football. 56 games were played at adult level, an increase od 9 on the previous year, and a large number of games were also played by the Bord na nOg section of the club. Eoin Kennedy will give the treasurer’s report and Dinny Ahern the chairman’s address. The AGM is the place for members and players to air their views on club affairs over the past year. theaims and ambitions for 2016 will be high on the agenda and it will take people with time, vision and energy to maintain the club’s place among the top dual clubs in the county. All members are asked to attend, particularly players, as the debate and discussion as always should be lively.
Board convention
The annual convention of Limerick County G.A.A. Board takes place on Monday 14th December in the Rathkeale House Hotel after 6.30pm Mass for deceased members, relatives and friends of the G.A.A. it will be a quiet affair with all officers returning unopposed for 2016 and no motion on the agenda.
